Why Dispense

In recent years providers have been faced with the squeeze on reimbursement from managed care organizations. Juggling managed care's administrative hassles means staying on top of credentialing paperwork, reimbursement arrangements, co-payment collection and ever-changing patient eligibility lists. For many practices, it also means trying to educate patients about their plans.  Managed care therefore means increasing overhead expenses, decrease profitability, and reducing productivity.

For many dispensing just makes sense.  Research reveals that a great deal of time is spent each on medication issues for no revenue.  In theory this time can be directed to dispensing at no incremental cost.  We know that providing your patients with the highest level of care is your first priority.  Providing those with their medications ensure that you go beyond the diagnosis and they can begin their treatment immediately.  Patients appreciate the convenience and value of receiving their prescription before they leave the office.

For payers dispensing means lower drug costs and dramatically reduced expenses tied to decreased medication non-compliance (medication non-compliance adds $100 billion yearly in avoidable medical expenses).
